This Chocolate Covered Cherry Smoothie needs only 5 ingredients and is made in just a few short minutes. It tastes more like an indulgent dessert than a healthy breakfast, but you don’t have to feel guilty sipping this creamy drink.

This Chocolate Covered Cherry Smoothie tastes more like a decadent dessert than breakfast and that’s why I love it so much.
Of course, my kids love it, too, and since there is NO sugar or sweeteners, I feel good about serving this healthy, dairy free smoothie to them.
Actually, my son thinks he doesn’t like cherries, but he happily sucks this down and makes those straw slurping noises when he gets to the bottom.
Ingredient notes
Cherries are high in potassium, Vitamin C and beta carotene and are loaded with antioxidants. [source] They taste pretty darn good as well (just don’t ask my son!).
Fresh cherries are so good in the summer, but I keep frozen cherries in my freezer most of the year to make smoothies such as this one.
I actually prefer to make my smoothies with frozen fruit because then there is no need to water down the flavor with ice cubes.
It doesn’t hurt that it’s a beautiful pink color either. That’s how I win over my daughter who loves everything pink, wears a sparkly pink tiara all day, and wants to be a princess when she grows up.
I’m pretty certain that princesses drink Chocolate Covered Cherry Smoothies!
This smoothie makes the perfect breakfast, snack or dessert! Â And I bet it would make awesome frozen pops, but I haven’t tried that….yet. Summer is coming….

Yes! A little nut butter goes a long way to getting that deep flavor. And it makes it so creamy! Thanks, Alisa!

This looks so thirst quenching & delicious! I totally agree about frozen cherries in a smoothie. You get all of that cherry flavor, no cherry pitting is involved, and you can eat all of those rare in season cherries by the handful instead. It’s a win/win!
Jenn S. says
So true. If we have fresh cherries, they don’t last long enough to make it into a smoothie!
Linda from Veganosity says

Thanks!! Most of the recipes are created by others, so I don’t know if I see a cookbook in my future. I’m trying to be better about creating my own though, so you never know…
